Comply with ban on drumming and noise-making –AMA The Accra Metropolitan Assembly, AMA, has cautioned residents and businesses in Accra to comply strictly with the ban on drumming and noise making in the city. The Ga Traditional Council has announced a month long ban on drumming and noise making from the 14th of this month to the 14th of next month, to usher in the celebration of the Homowo festival. A statement issued by the AMA said during the period of the ban, the usual form of worship should be confined to the premises of churches, mosques and noise levels should be minimized to the barest limits. It also urges religious bodies and Traditional Authorities to show respect for one another and restrain their followers from making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the beliefs and practices of one another. According to the AMA, the positioning of loudspeakers outside church premises, mosques and pubs will be banned while roadside evangelists are also to cease their activities during this period. The statement said an identifiable task force consisting of AMA personnel, the Police Service and representatives from the Traditional Council with tags will be enforcing compliance with the ban and cautions unauthorized persons to desist from any act of enforcement.
