GCAA investigates alleged discrimination against physically challenged woman

The Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, has launched investigations into the alleged discrimination by Africa World Airline against a physically challenged woman. 

The woman, Rita Kriba was denied by the airline from boarding a flight to Kumasi. 

Lawyer for the Ghana Federation of the Disabled, Abdul Aziz Mohammed, says the Federation is awaiting the outcome of investigations by the GCAA to know what action to take. 

Speaking to Felix Cofie, Mr. Mohammed said it is sad that some people in society continue to discriminate against people with disability.

Mr. Mohammed said any person with disability who is travelling is supposed to disclose his/her disability to the airline for special arrangements to be made. 

He stated that local airlines per the new code must refigure their aircraft to carry persons with disability.
