UTAG to hold crunch meeting over brouhaha at University of Education, Winneba

The University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG, is expected to hold a crunch meeting Tuesday, May 8 with management of the University of Education, Winneba, UEW, over recent tensions between the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university and some lecturers. 

The tension led to the sacking and forced eviction of some lecturers. 

The President of UTAG, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah told Ibrahim Kwarteng on GBC’s current affairs programme “Behind The News,” that the tensed situation calls for a cautious approach to resolving the issue, because the feuding parties are all members of UTAG. 

Dr. Opoku Mensah however dissociated UTAG from comments made by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. George Oduro that the Vice Chancellor of the UEW be removed from office. 

Dr. Opoku Mensah said Prof. Oduro's assertion is his personal opinion and not that of UTAG.
