Lands Minister leads delegation to UN Forum

The Lands and Natural Resources Minister, John Peter Amewu, is leading a delegation to the 13th session of the United Nations (UN) Forum on Forests.

The meeting would take place at the world body’s headquarters in New York, beginning on Monday, May 07 and end on Friday, May 11.

It will be discussing the implementation arrangements for the UN Strategic Plan for Forests (2017-2030).

A statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry in Accra, said Mr. Amewu will deliver a keynote address on the Voluntary Partnership Agreement process in Ghana.

This will be at a side meeting jointly organised by Indonesia, Ghana and the European Union (EU).

He will also participate in a ministerial roundtable on the contribution of forests towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

He left Accra, last Friday, accompanied by Board Chairman of the Forestry Commission, Brigadier General Joseph Odei,  Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, John Allotey, Technical Director of the Commission, Abu Juam and the Chief Planning Officer and Ghana Focal Person for the UN Forum on Forests, Joseph Osiakwan.
