NPP struggling to fulfil its campaign promises - Former President Mahama

The National Democratic Congress Party, (NDC) has successfully held its 9th peace walk in the Upper East region. 

Party members and sympathisers embarked on a 10.1 km walk through principal streets in the Bolgatanga municipality. 

Addressing the teeming supports of the NDC, Former president John Dramani Mahama described the Akufo-Addo-led government’s strategy of governing the country as “government as you go”.

According to him, Akufo-Addo’s government has only resorted to adhoc measures in solving the myriad of problems facing the country such as galamsey.

He reaffirmed his stance that government should have provided an alternative for the small scale miners before chasing them with soldiers.

He said government was struggling to fulfill its promises to Ghanaians.

He told supporters of the party that: “There are many other things that this government is doing in an adhoc manner. It is as if they are governing in a manner called "government as you go" because for every programme that is rolled out, there is no policy, there’s no guideline and that is the problem". 

Mr. Mahama explained that Government as you go means you just dream of something and just start implementing it. 

He emphasized that even the promises the NPP government  made before the elections, they have not yet fulfilled them but yet roping in other policies . 

He called on party faithfuls in the region to rally strongly behind the party in its restructuring process. 

Meanwhile, Mr. Mahama disclosed he will soon announce his political future as the NDC prepare to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the 2020 general elections. 

The event brought together all the party stalwarts in the region and some former ministers who served under former president Mahama's government.
