UEW impasse deepens following dismissal of former UTAG President 

Tension is brewing on the Winneba Campus of the University of Education following the sacking and ejection of former President of University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG, Dr Samuel Ofori Bekoe. 

The residence of Dr Bekoe was raided a few days ago in spite of a law suit and injunction which is pending at the court.   

Speaking on our news and current affairs programme ‘Behind the News,’ Dr Bekoe said all the doors, louvre blades and nets were removed from his home exposing him and his family to the vagaries of the weather. 

Dr Bekoe is calling on the Ministry of Education and government to step into the matter and find an amicable solution to the impasse. 

Dr. Bekoe is believed to be a loyalist of the former Vice Chancellor Prof. Mawutor Avorke. According to him, he is being treated this way because of his support for Prof. Avorke. 

He said other Avorke loyalists are facing similar situation.

Meanwhile, the Principal, College of Languages at the University of Education, Professor Avea Nsoh has pledged his unflinching support for Doctor Ofori Bekoe. 

Speaking on our news and current affairs programme ‘Behind the News,’ he noted that he will stick to his position because he, Prof Nsoh pledged to help students and his juniors to fight positive causes.
