Calls to tackle rudimentary challenges that hinder poor sanitation

Panelists on GTV's Current Affairs Programme, Talking Point have acknowledged that the fundamentals and structures of environmental sanitation Policies of the country are weak. 

There is therefore the need to strengthen structures by solving rudimentary challenges that hinder poor sanitation. 

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Joseph Kofi Adda said the government has shown more than enough commitment at tackling poor sanitation by providing a roadmap on zero tolerance for poor sanitation.
 
To this end 200 million cedis has been allocated to the Ministry to ensure the country is clean.
  
Mr. Adda said ensuring proper sanitation requires a comprehensive policy approach and attitudinal change.
 
He advocated, the country recycle it's plastic waste as a means of managing the waste from plastics.

The Editor, Water and Sanitation Times, Patrick Baidoo stressed the need for laws on sanitation to be enforced.

He said it is about time, the Ministry takes the right approach at ensuring proper sanitation, and charged the media to be advocates of proper sanitation.

The Chairman of Drink Safe Advocacy, Issaka Amon Kotei said the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources must coordinate the management of waste with the Local Government Services to ensure MDA's charged with the responsibility of ensuring sanitation, have Waste Management Department.

Mr. Kotei said without tackling the fundamental issues of sanitation, policies formulated will not hold.
