1,800 students partake in 61st Independence Day parade in Tema 

1,800 students from the various public and private Senior High Schools participated in the Independence Day parade in the Tema Metropolis with a call on them to be nationalistic to reflect the country's rich cultural heritage. 

The Tema Metro Education Director, Margaret Nsia Asamoah, said the total independence of Ghana can only be achieved if the youth are encouraged to be self-reliant. 

She noted that Ghana beyond aid means, investing in the people and building the capacity of the present and next generation of citizens. 

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La took the salute at the Tema Sports Stadium. 

The parade was under the command of a Tema Metro Guide Prince Annang.  At the Ningo-Prampram District, about a thousand school children took part in the parade at Prampram.

The Ningo-Prampram District Education Director, Madam Emmy Quartey, urged the teachers to be disciplined, time conscious, punctual and regular at work.

She lauded the District Assembly for organising the Teachers’ awards since 2014 which she said has served as motivation to the teachers to work harder.
