MCE petitions President over BECE award

The Yendi Municipal Assembly has petitioned the President, Nana Akufo Addo, over the replacement of Yakubu Hasanatu for this year's President’s Award. 
The seventeen year old girl, obtained seven ones in last year’s BECE.
 
According to the petition signed by the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Abubakar Yussuf, the girl was selected for the President’s Award and was duly invited for interview. 

The petition further stated that the parents of the girl were informed that their daughter passed the interview and will travel to Accra for the awards. 

However, a few days before the awards, she was replaced with another girl, Abubakar Hanifa who obtained five ones in the BECE.

The MCE therefore wants the President to look into the matter and ensure fairness.

An uncle of the affected girl, Yussif Alhassan Iddris in an interview with Radio Ghana, confirmed that they received notification from the Education Directorate that their daughter was going to receive the award.

He called for full investigation into the matter to ensure fairness.
