Security Chiefs map out new strategies to combat violent crime 

Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawamia at an emergency meeting with security chiefs has raised the security level in the country from today (March 1), with seven new strategies, following the recent spate of armed robbery in the country. 

Minister of Information Mustapha Hamid who briefed the media, said from today high Police and Military personnel will be deployed across the country. 

He said the joint military and police team will conduct surgical operations in the major cities to flash out criminals. 

Mr Hamid said government has also directed all financial institutions to fix CCTV cameras in their establishment.  

The Ministry of Energy is to as a matter of national security, also fix street lights on major streets and cities across the country. 
 
The recent spate of broad day light armed robbery has sent shock waves among Ghanaians with many questioning whether the police administration is on top of the situation. 

The robbery of the automobile company at North Industrial area in Accra, the killing of the Lebanese cashier at Tema and the 44 year old woman at Obuasi in the Ashanti region are but to mention a few. 

Mr Hamid said the peace and security of Ghanaians are of paramount interest to government hence the urgent steps to address the security lapses.

He also charged citizens to be vigilant and report suspicious characters to the police.
