28th February crossroads shooting

Ghana on Wednesday, 28th February 2018 marked exactly 70 years Ex-servicemen who had fought with the Gold Coast Regiment of the Royal West African Frontier Force were shot and killed when they marched to the Christiansborg Castle, to hand in a petition to the Colonial Governor. The soldiers were demanding their end of war benefits and pay they had been promised. On February 28, 1948, Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe and Private Odartey Lamptey, all members of the Gold Coast Regiment of the Royal West African Frontier Force, that fought alongside the allied forces during the Second World War, were killed while the Regiment was going to present a petition to the then British Colonial Governor, Sir Gerald Creasy.
