Calls for IGP to step down following incessant robbery cases

A Former Deputy Minister, Joseph Yamin, has called for the immediate dismissal of the IGP, David Asante Apeatu. 

He made the call on the grounds that Ghanaians are not safe under his administration and that he has proven to be ineffective. 

Mr. Yamin's comment follows the recent spate of crime especially day light robberies. 

Meanwhile, an expert in Peace and Security Studies at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), Dr Ken Ahorsu has also suggested the IGP bows out to make way for a fresh blood to take over. 

Speaking on Radio Ghana, he said it's about time governments tap into the expertise of former heads of security agencies to deal with the crime situation. 

Dr Ahorsu called on government to make appropriate investments into the Police Service.
