GMA Urges President Akufo-Addo To Intervene In UG Hospital Saga The Ghana Medical Association has called on President Akufo Addo to immediately step in to resolve the impasse as to who is to manage the University of Ghana Medical Center. The Association at the end of its first National Executive Council meeting for the year in Accra said it has met with both the Ministry of Health and University of Ghana authorities to get first hand information on the impasse. The association said for the supreme interest of the country and to have improved health system, amicable resolution should immediately be sought. A statement signed by the President of the GMA, Dr. Frank Ankobea and the General Secretary Dr. Justice Yankson said the GMA is very much dissatisfied with the bureaucratic delays associated with the granting of financial clearance for medical officers which resulted with highly trained doctors to be sitting at home while many hospitals are without doctors. The GMA has therefore called on the government especially the Ministry of Health to immediately rectify the administrative bottlenecks to enable these medical officers begin work.
