Human Rights Lawyer backs decision by government to continue to host Gitmo Two Human Rights Lawyer, Martin Kpebu, says the decision by government to continue to host the two Guantanamo Bay detainees in Ghana is in the right direction. He said this is going to further boost diplomatic relations between Ghana and the U.S. Speaking to GBC’s Felix Cofie, Mr. Kpebu said government can however revoke the refugee status given the two if conditions in their country of origin improve. Lawyer Kpebu said the decision by the then government not to give full disclosure on the Gitmo two should be understood because of the security implications involved. Meanwhile, Security Analyst, Adib Saani says there is nothing fundamentally wrong with government's decision to continue to host the Gitmo two. He said the two are not ex-convicts and their stay in Ghana does not pose any security threat to the country. In an interview with Felix Cofie, Mr Saani said Ghana was not coerced into signing the agreement and therefore there is nothing binding the country if it wants to send the two back to their country of origin. He said the goodwill gesture that Ghana has shown will further consolidate diplomatic ties between the two countries. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
