25th January, 2018 The Ghanaian Times is happy that the minister of Foreign Affairs has clarified matters and made it possible for Ghanaians to know the status of the two former Guantanamo Bay detainees. The paper says with the clarification, it hopes the debate on whether or not the two former detainees were eligible to continue to stay in Ghana after the expiry of their stay will come to an end. The Daily Graphic commends the management of National Health Insurance Scheme [NHIS] for settling debts it owed service providers. The paper urges the authority to be proactive in instilling discipline in its management practices, especially to plug loopholes in revenue generation and disbursement. The Graphic is convinced that if these loopholes are sealed and management practices improved, Ghanaians will be ready to pay more premium to better address their health challenges. The Daily Heritage expresses worry about the appalling state of mental health service in the country. According to the paper, almost all mental health facilities have major problems that are as old as the institutions themselves. The Heritage therefore supports the call by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Nsiah Asare for a vibrant media advocacy for sustainable financing of psychiatric hospitals in the country.
