Police must be well equipped for nation's security- Expert

The Executive Director of the African Centre for Security and Counter Terrorism, Emmanuel Kotin says the Police Service must be well equipped to solve law enforcement problems facing the country.  

"For civilians to have the courage to attack a Police station means the country has a security problem."  

Speaking on our current affairs programme Focus, which discussed the safety of the citizenry following the attack on Kwabenya Police Station in Accra, Mr. Kotin said the law enforcement Agencies must work without fear or favour.

A lecturer at the Institute of Local Government Studies, Fred, Oduro said, Ghana is not safe as the politicians and the Police suggest. 

He said the Police must move away from rigid and traditional Policing to a sophisticated one. Fred Oduro is a lecturer at the Institute of Local Government Studies. 

Executive Director of Ghana Institute of Governance and Security, David Agbee, said without adequate security, safety of the people and their assets cannot be guaranteed. He said the recruitment of two thousand police personnel is a step in the right direction. 

However, security experts should be consulted when taking decisions on security issues.
