GITMO 2 are refugees – Foreign Minister

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway says the two Gitmo detainees in the country have been refugees since July 2016.

Ms. Botchway said this in Parliament as she presented governments position on the two. 

She said government is constrained to explore other options based on the revelation of their status and the agreement the then government entered into with the US.

The Ranking member on the committee of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa said government needs to furnish the house with more details on their refugee status.
