Aviation Minister Warns Encroachers To Stay Off Aviation Lands

Aviation Minister, Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah, says government will use legal means to pull down all illegal structures  around the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority radar station at East Legon. 

The Minister in the company of some heads of department at  the Authority, visited the station following complaints of illegal occupation of lands around the station. 

Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah said all structures which are less than 150 metres from the radar will have to be pulled down. 

The  Very High Omini Directional Range radar gives aircrafts accurate directional signal for landing.

Its frequency is not supposed to interupted in anyway. 

However, the land reserved to serve as buffer have been encroached on by private individuals.

High rise buildings have sprang up around the station.
Minister of Aviation Cecilia Dapaah said the development is unacceptable and government will do everything within it to ensure that  the integrity of the air travel is not  compromised.
  
The Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Simon Allotey said the authority is going through all the legal processes to ensure that  the illegal structures are demolished as quick as possible.
