TEWU gets new Deputy General Secretary

The Teachers and Educational Workers Union, TEWU of the Trades Union Congress has elected Mark Korankye as its new Deputy General Secretary at a National Executive Council meeting in Kumasi. Madam Bintu Fati Awudu was also elected as the Second National Trustee. 

In a statement signed by the General Secretary, Augustine Saakuur Karbo, it said with the election of the two new executives, TEWU now has in place its full complement of national leadership to continue its fight for the desire of members and Ghanaian workers to go on retirement on enhanced pension benefits. 

This is to enable them to live dignified and comfortable lives after dedicated service to the country.  

The National leadership of TEWU is made up of Peter Lumor as Chairman, with Bismark Bawa as First National Chairperson and Florence Agyei-Wiredu the Second National Chairperson. 

The rest are Augustine Saakuur Karbo, General Secretary- Mark Korankye, Deputy General Secretary- Dr. William Adjei-Twumasi, First National Trustee, and Bintu Fati Awudu- Second National Trustee.

BROTHER MARK D. KORANKYE CONFIRMED TEWU NEW DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARY
The National Executive Council meeting of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union, TEWU of the TUC-Ghana has confirmed Brother Mark D. Korankye as the new Deputy General Secretary. Until his confirmation, Brother Korankye was the Second National Trustee of TEWU. Mr. Korankye, who is in his mid-50s, is a professional Administrator and currently the Registrar at the GIMPA Faculty of Law. He comes to the position of Deputy General Secretary, with a wealth of excellent managerial and inter-personal experience which will help to propel the union to higher heights in Ghana’s competitive labour environment.
The National Executive Council meeting which took place at PSWU Centre in Kumasi saw the election of a professional Accountant, Madam Bintu Fati Awudu as the Second National Trustee of TEWU. Madam Awudu ,  is currently the Eastern Regional chairperson of TEWU. 
It is instructive to note that with the election of the two new executives, TEWU now has in place its full complement of national leadership.

Brother Augustine Saakuur Karbo who was excited about the election of the two new officers remarked “our last meeting of NEC in December 2017 brought good news to our great union and am hopeful Brother Korankye and Sister Awudu with their strong, matured and rich experience in life will bring on board innovative ideas to meet the expectation of the thousands of TEWU members who want to see qualitative and quantitative improvement in the conditions of service.”
Let us bear in mind that our cherished members and Ghanaian workers desire to go on retirement on enhanced pension benefits to enable them to live dignified and comfortable life after dedicated service to the country in their various work places
