DG of GBC refuses to proceed on leave The Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Dr. Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow, says it is only the National Media Commission which can alter his terms of appointment. In this regard the Director-General has informed the Governing Board of the Corporation of his inability to adhere to the Board's decision asking him to proceed on leave, in relation to matters surrounding the TV licence fee. Dr. Anoff-Ntow, in a letter addressed to the Board Chairman said he had taken note of the instruction to proceed on leave because he did not seek authorisation before undertaking a major policy intervention which is the TV licence. In the letter, Dr. Anoff-Ntow, drew the attention of the Board Chairman that under his terms of contract, it is the NMC which is the only body with the authority to appoint and alter his terms of appointment. He said under the circumstances, he cannot act on the Board's directive until an express directive from the NMC on any such decision to proceed on leave. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
