Manhyia grateful to Ghanaians for Queen Mother's funeral

In recognition of the exemplary services provided by various organisations and individuals during the one week celebration, burial and final funeral rites of the late Queen Mother of Asante Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem, a special parade of cadet corps has been held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. 

The parade was to enable the palace acknowledge the immense contribution of the various Senior High School cadet corps, individuals, organisations and corporate bodies. 

The Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu took the royal salute and also reviewed the parade. 

Speaking at the ceremony the Omanhene of Bompata Nana Effa Appenteng noted the excellent performances individually and collectively did not only contribute to an outstanding display of Asante’s tradition and culture at its best but also rekindled and revived in the heritage as a people and as a nation. 

Prempeh College,  Kumasi T I Ahmadiyya, Serwaa Nyarko; Kunasi Technical Institute,  Adventist Senior High,  Opoku Ware and Kumasi High School were among the senior high schools who were honoured.  The Kunasi Metropolitan Assembly, Central Command of the Ghana Armed forces,  

Ghana police service, Prisons, Fire service and the Ghana road safety management services were also acknowledged and appreciated.  

Financial institutions including Unibank, UMB and the Energy Bank were among the financial institutions who were honoured.  

The Ghana Journalists Association also received a certificate of appreciation together with the media houses including the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, EIB, TV3, Graphic Communication Group, Despite Group. 

Some individuals were also honoured for their selflessness, commitment and dedication which contributed immensely to the success of the event.
