It is wrong for President to announce tariff reduction - Research Analyst

A Principal Research Analyst at the Institute of Energy Security, Richmond Rockson, says it is wrong for President Akufo-Addo to announce a 14% tariff reduction for commercial electricity users when there is an institution mandated to do that.  

He said it is important for government to rather empower the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), to do its job.  

Mr. Rockson said the PURC is the right Institution to decide whether the reduction in tariffs is feasible or not.

Mr. Rockson, explained that if care is not taken the government will create more problems for utility providers.
