Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in India to deepen links

Diplomatic talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu are set to begin today during the Israeli Prime Minister's first official trip to India.

Mr. Modi accorded Mr. Netanyahu a warm welcome when he arrived yesterday and vowed to consolidate the friendship between Israel and India.

The highly publicised visit comes after India voted against the United States decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel at the UN General Assembly last month.
