Bawku West DCE poised to improve on infrastructure  development

The District Chief Executive for Bawku West District in the Upper East Region, Victoria Ayamba, has said government will continue to keep faith with the people in the area by providing the appropriate infrastructure to accelerate development.

Speaking to Radio Ghana's Samuel Ayammah in Zebila, the DCE said a  number of feeder roads were being rehabilitated in the district to facilitate economic activities. 

The DCE expressed worry about the inadequate equipment and the limited infrastructure at the Zebila district hospital which serves as a referral Centre in the area. 

She noted that the lack of working materials at the hospital is hampering  quality  health care delivery. 

She said expectant  mothers  sometimes sleep  on the floor due to lack of beds at the hospital.  

The DCE said plans were far advanced to expand the hospital's  maternity and the children's ward to ensure quality health care delivery.  

She said the district has three Zones which include Zebila Central zone, Sapelliga zone and Binaba Zone.  

According  to her, almost all the health centres in each zone lacks the needed working facilities.  

Madam Ayamba said much attention will be given to the Binaba health Centre because  it serves a lot of communities in the area. 

Madam Ayamba said the Nana Addo led administration is poised to bring quality health care delivery to the door steps  to the people  in the area. 

She said since education is the bedrock of development, her outfit is putting  pragmatic measures in place to lift the standards of education in the area particularly at the BECE level.  

She charged parents to invest in their wards education.  

She said government's agricultural revolutionary programme dubbed "Planting for Food and Jobs policy" has come to stay,  hence the need for the your in area to desist from traveling to the southern part of the country to hook themselves onto the program.  

She noted that the NPP government has made farming  a lucrative  business.  

The DCE  also called on the youth in the area to take advantage of the youth employment  modules that has been rolled out. 

The unemployed  youth in the area were also advised to remain calm  as government  is putting innovative measures in place to get them employed. 

Touching on the internal revenue mobilization, the DCE said when she took over office, there were a lot of linkages in the internal revenue mobilization.  She said her outfit set-up a task force and it has since yielded positive results. 

She said the assembly will soon go into partnership with an NGO call Green Concept Africa who has the expertise  when it comes to revenue mobilization to enable them improve on their internal revenue  mobilization. 

She stated that the district cannot rely on central government alone to to improve on the living conditions of the people, hence the need for stakeholders, Chiefs and opinion leaders in the area to join hands on deck and support any initiative geared towards development in the area.  

Madam Ayamba appealed to the people in the area to honour their tax obligations to enable the assembly execute all the development projects in the area.  

She said most of the communities in the area lack portable drinking water.  

She revealed that some communities drink  from Wells,  Dug-outs and streams. The situation she described as unacceptable.  

Madam Ayamba called on government and benevolent organizations to come to their aid.  

The DCE seized the opportunity to thank the Bawku West District Police Command and the various Watch-Dogs committees for maintaining law and order in the area.  

She said their efforts  have helped  brought crime in the area to the nearest minimum.
