South Africa police hunt rapist with bitten penis

A pregnant woman bit the penis of a man who raped her at knife-point in front of her child after giving them a lift near the small town of White River in South Africa's Mpumalanga province.

A statement by the Police  say   the woman, who was three months pregnant, was raped after being taken into a bush, and ordered not to scream.  

However, she "managed to bite the private part of the man who ran away after the ordeal". 

The statement added that this left him with "a severely injured private part", and anyone with information about him should contact the police.

Rape and sexual assault remain a large problem in South Africa. According to Africa Check, more than 109 rapes were reported each day on average during 2016/17 - totalling 39,828 incidents.

However, the number had decreased slightly from the year before, when 41,503 rapes were recorded.
