In a tweet, President Buhari said the security forces are working to prevent further attacks in Benue state, where at least 33 have been killed after a series of village raids by suspected Fulani herders. In the wake of the killings, hundreds of people took to the streets in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, to put pressure on the authorities to end the frequent violence.
