Rely on God for inspirational leadership - AME Zion pastor tells leaders 

Ghanaians occupying various leadership positions have been challenged to seek God`s intervention in whatever programme they initiate to improve the standard of living of their followers. 

They should avoid carrying themselves about as the ultimate solution to societal problems.

The Director of Protocol of the East Ghana Conference of the AME Zion Church, Rev. Chris J.E.Y Gawugbe said this at a send-off service organised in his honour by the Faith Society of the A.M.E Zion church at Nima in Accra. 

Rev. Gawugbe had been the head pastor of the Faith Society for four years. He is currently the Pastor in charge of the Big Zion Society of the AME Zion church at La. 

Rev. Gawugbe said leaders who pursue their vision based on God`s guidance execute programmes that lead to holistic transformation of society.  

He noted that leaders who rely solely on their strength and ability do not provide inspiration to their people. 

“Because we are now living in a world where people are over dependent on themselves and the properties they have. Unfortunately, people also see their leaders as the only means of solution to their problems. When we keep depending on leaders, they [leaders] will fail, but God remain the same. Because God is the Creator of the Creature, let us move from a man-centred leadership. That is the only way we can see our way through”.

Rev Gawugbe cautioned the youth to avoid rushing for riches at the expense of moral principles. According to him, the youth must pursue their ambition in a manner that give glory to their parents and God who created them.  

“Let us put God first, but not the quick and the fast way that we are thinking this day is the only means to success”. 

The new head of the Faith Society of the AME Zion Church, Pastor Commander Douglas Akotey, promised to continue the good works of Rev Gawugbe. 

He also asked the Faith Society Congregation to work in unity to realise the church`s socio- economic aspiration for Ghanaians.
