Ministers of God on prosprects for New Year

Correspondent Nicholas Osei-Wusu reports from the Ashanti Region that there have been mixed predictions by some Ministers of God concerning the prospects for Ghana this year. 

While some of the Pastors are predicting a Good Year, others say 2018 portends a difficult Economic year for Ghanaians for which reason, the people must fasten their belt.

These predictions were made during some Church Services to usher in the New Year. 

Most church auditoriums were filled to capacity by both regular and occasional worshippers. 

One noticeable feature of this year’s Watch Night Church Services was the presence of Police personnel at most of the church premises to provide protection for life and property.  

Unlike previous vigils, this year’s started early in some churches.

As at 7 pm, members of the Gospel of Light Assembly of the Assemblies of God Church at Tanoso in Kumasi were already in prayer mood when GBC's Radio Ghana arrived there. 

The Head Pastor of the Church, Reverend Augustine Bempah, asked especially Christians to be courageous and face life with a focus, consistency, self-belief and with commitment to God so as to succeed.

At the Emmanuel Society of the Methodist Church at Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya district, the church members were seriously praising God for His protection over them throughout 2017. 

In a sermon based on Deutronomy Chapter 28 Verses 1-14, the Circuit Superintendent, Very Reverend Samuel Agyei Boafo, noted that the year 2018 will be full of divine blessings for God's children so long as they live right for Him. 

At the Calvary Charismatic Centre at the Asokore Mampong Municipality, the big auditorium was filled to capacity with members in dominantly white apparel.  

A US-based Ghanaian Musician, Isaac Frimpong graced the programme with song ministrations.

In an interview, the Founder and General Overseer of the Church, Reverend Ransford Obeng, encouraged Christians to be faithful to God. 

At the Power Chapel Worldwide at Asuoyeboah in Kumasi, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Osei Assibey and the MP for Kwadaso, Dr. S.Y. Nuamah, joined hundreds of worshippers to usher in the ney year. 

The General Overseer of the Church, Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng, predicted a difficult year for Ghana based on certain conditionalities of the IMF, asking the government to downsize public sector employees by about 100 thousand.
