Activities resume in Kumasi after Christmas festivities

The Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi is back to its normal vibrant commercial activity just a day after the main Christmas festivities. 

Even those brisk business centres where the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly undertook an extensive decongestion exercise days ahead of commencement of final funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem and the yuletide are gradually being taken over again by the traders and hawkers. 

Places such as ‘Dr. Mensah’, S.A.T., Mbrom, Pampaso, P.Z. and Roman Hill are fast returning to their former state where pedestrians and vehicles competed for the little available space as a result of the traders and hawkers taking over the roads. 

GBC's Correspondent reports that the only difference now is that the volume of traffic into and out of the main business district of Adum is yet to peak thereby giving pedestrians a little respite in terms of space for movement. 

Another significant observation was that, some workers in the formal sector reported to work since the statutory holidays ended on Tuesday, December 26.
