The Ghanaian Times reflects on the general 2016 election and is convinced the outcome has cemented Ghana's democratic dividend since it returned to constitutional rule in 1993. It is however saddened that there seems to be growing inequality in the country with many people still wallowing in extreme poverty. The Times says the situation is worrying especially when Ghana was the first country in Sub Saharan Africa to achieve the erstwhile Millennium Development Goal of halving poverty and hunger. It says in an era of the Sustainable Development Goals which underpins inclusive growth and where Ghana's president is Co-Chair of the group of eminent global personalities advocating the realisation of  the SGD's ,Government must do more to end the cycle of poverty in the country. 

The Daily Heritage expresses worry about threats of naked demonstrations by some market women over attempts to eject them from their markets. The paper says such negative ways of making demands from government should be of grave concern to the nation. Reacting to the case of traders in New Juaben, the paper supports good policies for traders but believes such threats are uncalled for. It says although traders desire descent places to sell, threatening to embark on naked demonstrations and implying that government is forcing them into prostitution is not right and must be stopped.
