UCC rustication: Students want University to comply - Spokesperson

Spokesperson for the 22 students whose rustication was overturned by a Cape Coast High Court Bernard Quaye, says they expect authorities at the Cape Coast University to do the right thing by paying the 220 thousand cedis the Court awarded the students. 

Yesterday (Dec. 8), the Cape Coast Court reversed the University's decision to rusticate 22 students for their alleged involvement in the clashes that occurred between Oguaa Hall and ATL Hall. The disturbance led to loss of property as well as injuries to some students. 

The University according to the Court, failed to adduce enough evidence to link the said students to the crime. The rustication is therefore void and of no effect.

Sources say authorities at the Cape Coast University will on Monday (Dec. 11), hold a crunch meeting to respond to the decision of the Court. 

Speaking on our news and current affairs programme ‘Behind the News,’ Mr Quaye, said they are happy with the outcome.
