Killing of Maltese journalist silences anti-corruption

Grief and anger are still palpable in the tiny Mediterranean nation, where Maltese investigative journalist Caruana Galizia was killed yesterday.

The flaming wreckage of her car, which was blown off the road by an assassin's bomb, was found a few metres from her home.

A hand-written note among bunches of flowers have been laid where the incident occurred with the inscription, "What you wrote and what you uncovered cannot be blown away." 

News editor at the Malta Independent, Rachel Attard described the killing as unnecessary and sad.
 
Police have said almost nothing about their investigation or the prospect of identifying suspects.
