EPA says no law against siting of fuel stations within residential areas exist

The Environmental Protection Agency [EPA] says there is no law against the siting of fuel stations within residential areas. 

The Executive Director of EPA, Peter Abum Sarkodie who made this known at a news conference in Accra said the guidelines for the establishment of stations rather determine some distance between the fuel station and facilities like hospitals churches and schools. 

His comments come after October 7 gas explosion at Madina Atomic Junction which claimed seven lives. 

Mr Sarkodie said the EPA has constituted a technical committee to review all applications to improve quality assurance and enhance its staff expertise to do the review.
