Government to step-up safety standards at gas stations 

The Minister of Energy Boakye Agyarko has expressed government's resolve to step-up safety standards in the country's energy sector after gas explosions killed at least seven people at Atomic Junction in Accra. 

Mr. Agyarko said it is unfortunate that gas explosions in the country have increased but was confident that a swift solution would be found.

Meanwhile, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Most Reverend Titus Awotwi Pratt, has expressed dismay about the rampant gas explosions in the Country, blaming the situation on the failure of state institutions to strictly enforce the laws on safety at the filling stations. 

He has, therefore, urged government to as a matter of urgency, put measures in place to forestall future occurrences through effective supervision, monitoring, and adherence to the laws on siting gas stations. 

Most Rev. Awotwi Pratt was speaking at the induction of Bernard Botwe, as Lay President of the Methodist Conference in Kumasi.
