Methodist Bishop Expressed Disappointment Over Rampant Gas Explosion in Ghana

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Reverend Titus Awotwi Pratt, has expressed dismay about the rampant gas explosions happening in recent times, blaming the situation on the failure of state institutions’ inability to adhere to safety and environmental precautions leading to frequent fire out breaks and negligence on the part of officials of the Environmental Protection Agency with the sitting of gas filling stations. 

He has therefore urged government to as a matter of urgency put measures in place to forestall future occurrences through effective supervisions, monitoring, and proper sitting of gas and fuel filling stations. 

Most Rev. Awotwi Pratt was speaking at the induction of Bernard Clement Kwasi Botwe, as Lay President of the Methodist Conference in Kumasi.  

Radio Ghana’s Razak Baba reports that, Mr. Botwe is the General Director for the Social Services General Directorate of the Methodist Church, Ghana. 

An ardent and committed Methodist, he has served in many capacities in the church, particularly in the lay movement. 

It is no wonder when it came for the Methodist conference to appoint a lay president the mantle fell on him. 

His induction as the Lay President of the Methodist Conference at a special service at the Wesley Cathedral at Adum in Kumasi was performed by the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Reverend Titus Awotwi Pratt. 

In a sermon, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana Most Reverend Titus Awotwi Pratt, condemned the rampant gas explosions in the country and said state institutions should be held accountable for negligence of duty.

The new Lay President , Bernard Clement Kwesi Botwe commended the leadership of the church for the confidence reposed on him and assured the Methodist Conference of his preparedness to commit himself to the cause of Methodism.
