Deputy Minister assesses impact of heavy rains in Accra The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey has led a government delegation to assess the impact of the heavy rains in parts of the capital this morning. Parts of the country experienced flooding after the heavy rains especially Accra and Kumasi. Many people who left their homes early for work got stuck in traffic as the flood waters took over the streets and some major roads. Such was the situation in areas like Shiashie, parts of Legon, Nungua and Kaneshie which were all submerged as a result of the cloudburst. The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey led a team of government officials including the Greater Accra Regional Minister Ishameal Ashetey, Personnel from the Regional Police command and NADMO, and the Chief Fire Officer to visit Alajo, Odorna, Adabraka Sahara and the Obetsebi Lamptey roundabout. At Alajo, the flood water forced residents to vacate their rooms. The story at the Odorna Market and its environs, Adabraka, Sahara, and Obetsebi Lamptey roundabout was not different. Gutters were seen chocked with plastic waste. The floods also caused serious traffic jam in the city and some drivers who were in the traffic for more than five hours expressed their frustration about the situation. The question that lingers on is how long it will take authorities to find a permanent solution to this perennial situation to save lives and properties. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
