Over 52,000 children in Nigeria`s Borno State orphaned following Boko Haram attacks

About 52,311 children in Nigeria's Borno State have become orphans following attacks by terror group Boko Haram in the country's northeast region. 
 
Governor of Borno State told reporters in Maiduguri, that about 54, thousand 911 women have also been widowed by the attacks.
 
The situation he said if not controlled, might cause an increase in the humanitarian crisis in the State and Nigeria's northeast region at large.

He said the state authorities have identified education as a veritable solution to the challenge, adding that the government is poised to invest in education together with various intervention programmes launched in collaboration with the central government, the United Nations, and global development partners. 

Boko Haram has been blamed for the deaths of more than 20 thousand people and displacing about two point three million others in Nigeria since their insurgency began in 2009.
