Kenyans go to Work in Capital despite Call to Stay Away

Kenya's coastal city of Mombasa is bustling despite the call by opposition leader Raila Odinga's for people to stay away from work over last week's election result, which he is disputing. 

Normalcy is said to be slowly returning in Kisumu in western Kenya, a stronghold of opposition support, where Raila Odinga has called for a stay away from work to protest what he calls a stolen election and police brutality. 

 Reports say some businesses have opened but other areas remain tense and empty. 

Traffic in the capital, Nairobi, is reported not to be heavy, suggesting that some are staying away from work, but it is unclear if this is in response to the opposition call or the fear of an outbreak of violence. 
 
Mr Odinga lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta in last week's Presidential election, which he said was marred by fraud. 

His allegations have however been dismissed by the electoral commission and independent observers.
