Four people found dead in mining pit at Akwaboso near Kwabeng 

Four people have been found dead in an abandoned mining pit at Akwaboso near Kwabeng in the Eastern Region.

Confirming the incident to Radio Ghana, the Deputy PRO of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Inspector Gideon Boateng said the deceased who have been alleged to have been towing a tractor to a gold mining site encountered personnel of the Operation Vanguard Anti Galamsey Task force and fled leaving the engine of the tractor running.

He could not however indicate how their bodies were found lifeless in the pit. 

Inspector Boateng said investigation into the case is underway.

But the bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy.
