Kenya's EC says it is working to announce poll outcome

The Head of Kenya's Electoral Commission, Wafula Chebukati, has now taken his place at the country's election centre in the capital, Nairobi, with the announcement of the Presidential election results imminent.

Mr Chebukati said officials are still waiting for some results to come in and asked the people to be patient and go back to work.

Meanwhile Security is tight at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre where the governing Jubilee Party is expected to assemble for the announcement of the election results.

There are expectations that a final result following Tuesday's presidential election will be announced today.

But the Election Commission has until Monday to declare the winner of the elections.
