Tamale: Chartered Aircraft to airlift stranded Hajj Pilgrims to Sauda Arabia

An aircraft is on its way from Saudi Arabia to Tamale to airlift the first batch of this year's Muslim pilgrims. 

The first batch of 506 pilgrims were expected to have been airlifted Thursday last night but the plane did not arrive. 

That caused some panic and anxiety among the prospective pilgrims at the Hajj village in Tamale.  

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the PRO of the Hajj Board, Alhaji Gomda said the Board has made a different arrangement and the plane is already airborne.  

He however indicated that because this is a smaller plane, it will airlift less than the initial 506 people.
