Alajo shooting victim Yaw Boadi confirmed dead


The Tesano Police has confirmed the death of a 32-year-old Richard Yaw Boadi, a mechanic at Alajo in Accra, who was shot last Tuesday, by a motorist.

The shooting followed an argument between him and the suspect, Charles Nana Frimpong in front of a garage at Alajo a suburb in Accra.

The late Boadi reportedly told the suspect to reposition his red Hyundai vehicle which was wrongly parked in front of his mechanic shop.

The suspect disregarded the artisan’s plea which led to a strong argument, an eyewitness has said.

Mr. Frimpong reached for a pistol in his vehicle and fired at the deceased.

Boadi was rushed to the Greater Accra Region hospital and was receiving treatment died Thursday.

The Tesano Police have now charged the suspect who shot and Boadi at Alajo with murder.

Nana Frimpong was earlier charged with an attempted murder when he shot 32-year-old Richard Boadi. 


Charles Nana Frimpong has since been remanded in custody.

It all began when the mechanic and others questioned why the motorist had wrongly parked his vehicle at the entrance of an auto-mechanic shop at Alajo, which had resulted in a gridlock last Tuesday.

Frimpong was not immediately available when Boadi raised issues with the parking but had left a lady sitting in the car.

Frimpong’s behaviour angered Boadi and other members of the  public who demanded that the car be moved from the entrance of the shop to pave the way for other vehicles to move.

Frimpong emerged from a distance and first fired a warning shot and followed it up with another shot which hit Boadi in the stomach to the shock of bystanders.

Eyewitnesses said the crowd moved angrily towards Frimpong, who quickly ran into his vehicle and locked it for his safety.

The angry crowd used objects to hit the Hyundai Elantra’s windscreens and windows. 

The vehicle’s bumper, tail light and side mirrors were damaged in the process.

Chief Supt Kwesi Ofori, in charge of Police Operations at Accra Region said the police responded to an emergency situation in respect of an alleged shooting incident.

He said the police went in timeously, apprehended the suspect and rushed the victim to the Ridge Hospital for medical care.

GBC
