Vice President swears into office new governing board for Bank of Ghana A 13-member board has been sworn in by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to oversee activities at the Bank of Ghana. The Vice President tasked the new board to work assiduously to bring down interest rates. He said while government puts in place measures to stabilize the economy, key economic indicators such as the Policy and Interest Rates need decline to reduce the cost of borrowing in the country. Vice President Bawumia stressed that the board should not concentrate on only price stability but also interest rates which are on the high side. Dr. Bawumia indicated that the introduction of the National ID system and the national digital address system will help reduce risks banks encounter when they lend to customers hence the need for the board to strive to reduce the cost of borrowing. The Board has the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr. Ernest Addison as Chairman. The members are the second Deputy Governor, Dr. Johnson Asiama, Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari and Mr. Charles Adu-Boahen. The others are Dr. Eugenia Amporfu, Keli Gadzekpo, Dr Kwame Owusu-Nyantekyi and Dr. Samuel Nii Noi Ashong. The rest are Jude Kofi Bucknor, Joseph Alhassan, Andrew Boye-Doe, Dr. Maria Hagan and Comfort Ocran. GBC
