Political Scientist says government should focus on Ghana’s development A Senior Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Ransford Gyampo says government should focus on key initiatives and policies that will drive the country's development, instead of the creation of new regions. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Prof. Gyampo said the current status of the District Assemblies is not too good and the situation is likely to worsen if an additional burden is placed on them. He drew government's attention to the financial implications in case the inhabitants refuse to vote for the creation of a new region. For his part, a Governance Expert with the Institute of Local Government Studies, Fred Oduro said for an effective administration and business opportunities to thrive, the creation of a new region is appropriate. Deputy Minister for Regional Re-Organisation, Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah, said people should not rubbish government's policy to create new regions. GBCONLINE
