Registered Nurses and Midwives endorse government's decision to re-introduce quota system The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association has backed the decision by government to re-introduce a quota system for admission into Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools. A directive from the Ministry of Health has asked all Heads of Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools to limit this year's intake to only 60 percent of their capacity. According to some commentators, government is limiting the admission in order to fulfil the campaign promise of re-introducing training allowances. But the President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Asante Krobea, said even though the re-introduction of the allowances may be a factor, the decision to limit admission is to ensure quality training.
