‘Government has no interest in who wins in Kenya’s polls’ - Mustapha Hamid

Government says that it has no interest in who emerges winner in Kenya's elections. 

It said the decision as to who leads Kenya for the next five years remains the sole preserve of Kenyans.

In a statement, the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, said government has been monitoring events with regards to the election and notes with concern the refusal of entry to Kenya of Peter Mac Manu, a Ghanaian citizen. 

It said Mr Manu went to Kenya as Head of the Democratic Union of Africa’s Observer Mission and it is not the first time that he has acted in that capacity.

The statement said the Ghanaian Constitution guarantees every citizen of Ghana the freedom to participate in political activity inside or outside of the country, within the laws of Ghana or wherever they found themselves.

It adds that Ghana has enjoyed good diplomatic relations with Kenya and will continue to deepen this relationship and explore other areas of co-operation between the two countries, for their mutual benefit, irrespective of the government in power.
