NADMO To Set Up “Operation Thunder Bolt” Camp In Walewale

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is to set up a disaster response camp at Walewale in the Northern region of Ghana. 

The Director General of NADMO, Eric Nana Agyeman announced this in tamale. 

He said an operation dubbed: “Operation Thunder Bolt” is to provide swift response to possible floods victims from future spillage of the Bagre Dam. 

This operation includes the Red Cross, 48 Engineers regiment, and sister security agencies and will be in Walewale for three months. 

The Bagre Dam is expected to be opened in the coming weeks and authorities are not taking chances on its effects. 

The Northern, Upper East and the Upper West regions are usually inundated with floods from the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso. 

Communities along the White and Black Volta suffer most during the annual spillage. Farms are washed, livestock are carried away and human lives are lost.
