Malaria Prevalence Rate among children drops to 21%- Survey

The 2016 Ghana Malaria Indicator Survey shows that the National Malaria Prevalence Rate among children from six to fifty-nine months has decreased from twenty-seven percent to 21 percent. 

The Survey also indicates that Malaria prevalence among children varies widely throughout out Ghana, ranging from five percent in Greater Accra to as high as thirty percent in the Central and thirty one percent in the Eastern Regions.
 
Rural children are also more than twice as likely to be infected. 

Launching the Report in Accra, the Acting Government Statistician, Baah Wadieh noted that while the country celebrates the strides made, there are other indicators that needed to be given attention to further decrease Malaria prevalence.
