GAWU express concern about smuggling of subsidised fertilizer The General Agricultural Workers Union has expressed concern about the spate of sumggling of subsidised fertilizer to neighbouring countries and urged government to take steps to halt the trend. In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Deputy General Secretary, Andrews Tagoe said fertilizers are central to increased yield and if government's planting for food and jobs policy is to materialise, then inputs like fertilizer must be made available at affordable prices. Mr. Tagoe called on government to tackle the fall Army worm invasion with all the urgency and seriousness that it deserves since it is impacting agricultural production. Mr. Tagoe appealed to government to endeavour to employ students coming out from the Agricultural training schools to enable them to offer extension services to farmers. GBCONLINE
