CAGD to freeze salaries of unvalidated employees 

The Controller and Accountant-Generals Department has warned that it will freeze the salaries of all Heads of Department who fail to validate their staff on the Electronic Salary Payment Vouchers effective August 2017. 
  
The Department also says it would stop salaries of employees declared “unknown” but not “Missing” on the pay voucher.
 
Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement on the Electronic Salary Payment Vouchers in Accra the Controller and Accountant-General Eugene Ofosuhene, explained that the decision had been taken as part of efforts to help sanitise the electronic payment system and ensure the system is not compromised. 

He said all Personnel Processing Sections of the Ministries Departments and Agencies should as a matter of urgency, update employees data before the final payroll runs. 

He also entreated Heads of MDAs to ensure that they update the data of staff in real time so that all issues concerning postings and transfers are addressed within the same month. 

The stakeholder engagement was attended by Heads of MDAs, human resource managers, chief directors, and heads of accounts as well as employee unions.

Mr Ofosuhene said the Electronic Salary Payment Vouchers is an electronic platform introduced in 2014 to aid the payment of the more than five hundred thousand government employees under a credible and efficient payroll management.
